Some Important Holiday Dates

Thank you to everyone that came out to the Polish Hall in Seattle for the Annual Fall Polish Bazaar - it was a pleasure meeting so many wonderful new people as well as seeing some dear friends.

SOME IMPORTANT DATES/DEADLINES

I'll be in Tacoma on Saturday, December 10th for the YWCA Holly Jolly Holiday Market. I'll be selling my jewelry along with other local vendors. Great opportunity to get your Holiday Shopping done - plus you'll be happy to know a portion of sales go to support the YWCA.  Hope to see you there!

If you won't be able to make it or prefer shopping online, here are some important dates for holiday delivery in my Etsy shop:

30-Minute Craft: Bolivian Awayo

Finally getting around to posting about my 30-min craft project I did last month. Here is a sneak peek of the photo that I had posted on my Instagram a few weeks back.

This awayo has travelled from Bolivia to Poland and back with us to the Olympic Peninsula. I wanted to find a way to display this special piece in our home.

I gathered together a few items: the beautiful awayo along with this awayo ribbon that I bought on my last trip to Bolivia, a stick that carries some wonderful memories from our wet wading summer adventures (my nieces and nephew named it the "Gandalf stick". HAHA!!!), leather cord plus a needle and thread.

With supplies in hand, 30-minutes later I was read to hang it up!

I am so happy we get to see this beauty every day and be reminded of life's simple pleasures - love, family, and great friends!

Wszystkich Świętych (All Saints' Day)

Yesterday was Wszystkich Świętych (All Saints' Day) this is one holiday that all my life growing up in the United States I wanted to experience in Poland. This is an annual national holiday in Poland to celebrate the Saints on November 1, but it is also a day when people all over Poland visit the graves of loved ones to place candles and flowers on their graves. Did you know at least 16 European countries with a strong Catholic identity/history also observe this official holiday that closes offices and schools?

Last year, my husband and I had the opportunity to experience this special day in Warsaw, Poland. As we walked to the cemetery from my grandparent’s house - we approached the cemetery and saw rows upon rows of cars and the most beautiful sunset. Outside of the cemetery the street was closed off and there were vendors selling candles, flowers, as well as baked goods and some food vendors. As we walked into the cemetery, it was amazing to see the sea of flickering candles outside the chapel and the crowds of people. As we continued walking each row just glowed.

I truly can’t put into words what a beautiful and unique experience this was thus here are some photos for you...
